 The Secretary of the Army has reposed special trust and confidence in your patriotism, valor, fidelity and professional excellence. In view of these qualities, your demonstrated leadership potential, and dedicated service to the United States Army and the unit, you are, therefore, promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant. 

As a Non-Commissioned Officer, you are expected to aspire and intern what it means to be a servant while striving to be tactically and technically proficient in all that you do. A Non-Commissioned Officer is a pillar of the community and as such is expected to uphold the numerous responsibilities of their position and enforce the standards of the Unit and Army. Soldiers of a lesser grade are required to obey your lawful orders. Accordingly, you will accept responsibility for their actions. Accordingly, you will accept responsibility for their actions and inactions honoring the traditions and standards of the United States Army in the discharge of your duties.

You have been assigned to 2nd Platoon Headquarters as Platoon Sergeant.

Guidance:

Assignment to a combat unit is a duty that comes with many responsibilities. The soldiers serving alongside you count on you to fulfill your obligations. Fulfillment of your obligations and responsibilities entails that you notify the unit of upcoming absences and request a leave of absence in advance; that you will serve as a committed soldier in combat operations; that you will respect the chain of command; that you will carry out your mission first and foremost and consider yourself and your statistics last; and that you not only reflect well on your combat unit, but on the 4th Ranger Battalion as a whole. Much is expected from you, but we are confident that you will exceed those expectations.
